Illustrator
I love creating dynamic, magical or historical illustrations for KidLit. I’m currently drawn to historical and animal nonfiction, but fantasy still holds its own place in my nerdy heart. Know what they have in common? Drama, and well-chosen details. I create illustrations that capture high-interest moments, while hinting at the larger story.
Art Teacher
If you’re here to scope my qualifications, I graduated from the Delaware College of Art and Design and the Maryland Institute College of Art. I am certified to teach K-12 Art, and I currently teach middle school Visual Art and Art History, grades 6-8, which means that I’m insane. But it also means that I know how to talk to the middle grade age (be genuine–they will sniff out fake enthusiasm faster than airport security dogs).
Animal Person
You’re going to notice that my artwork tends toward animal subjects. I spend a lot of time outside with horses, an unholy amount of time researching animals throughout history, and I share my studio with a cat-shaped house goblin named Grimm.
Total Nerd
You’ve been warned. I have strong opinions on period and historical epic films. I also own entirely too many comic books.
